|
Purpose: Brilla Soccer exists to evangelize and disciple people all over the world using the sport of soccer. History: Brilla began with an international mission tour to Costa Rica in 1996, and has developed into a ministry that uses soccer domestically, as well as internationally to reach people for Jesus Christ. Ministry Activities: Brilla Soccer Ministries, Inc. exists for the following purpose: Sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ using the platform of soccer. The primary activity of Brilla Soccer Ministries, Inc. is using the sport of soccer as a means of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others. Brilla fulfills this activity in a variety of settings: 1. Teams Brilla uses volunteer Christian amateur soccer players to form a team that competes throughout the country during the year. The team participates in tournaments and exhibition matches, all with the purpose of sharing the Gospel with opposing teams and spectators through the platform of soccer. 2. Tours Brilla works with missionaries in other countries in planning matches, clinics, worship services, and street evangelism. The teams are made up of volunteer Christian soccer players, many of whom give up vacation time and personal finances to be a part of the international mission trip. These international trips occur 2-3 times each year, with each lasting 7-14 days. 3. Camps Brilla works with churches who are willing to host a soccer camp. The goal of a Brilla Soccer Camp is not only to teach the fundamentals of the game of soccer, but to also teach the importance of Christian character. The camp staff is selected by the President and other salaried staff. Brilla’s camp schedule occupies June-August, or the summer months. 4. In addition to our volunteer amateur team, Brilla own a Premier Development League Franchise. This is a minor league soccer team that plays under the umbrella of the United Soccer Leagues.
